Prayer

Prayer is a powerful way to connect with God, share your joys and burdens, and find comfort and guidance. Here at Peace, we believe prayer is an essential part of a growing faith.

Whether you’re new to prayer or looking to deepen your prayer life, we’re here to support you. Here are some ways to get started:

  • Guided Prayers: We’ve included some sample prayers below that you can use for various situations.
  • Explore Different Prayer Styles: There’s no right or wrong way to pray! Try journaling your thoughts to God, praying silently throughout the day, or incorporating prayer into your daily routine.
  • Join a Prayer Group: Connecting with others in prayer can be a powerful experience.

Sample Prayers:

  • A Prayer for Peace: “Dear God, I come to you today seeking peace. The world can feel chaotic, and I long for your calmness to fill my heart and mind. Help me to let go of worry and trust in your guidance. Amen.”
  • A Prayer for Guidance: “Loving God, I stand at a crossroads in my life. Please guide me as I make decisions. Help me to discern your will for my future. Give me the wisdom and strength to follow your path. Amen.”
  • A Prayer of Gratitude: “Thank you, God, for all your blessings. I am grateful for [list specific things you’re grateful for]. Help me to share your love and abundance with the world around me. Amen.”

Remember, prayer is a conversation with God. Speak from your heart and be open to what God might be saying to you.

Martin Luther has some great examples of prayer in his morning and evening prayers. We encourage you to watch this video and pray along should you wish!

“What is it to serve God and do [God’s] will? Nothing else than to show mercy to our neighbor. For it is our own neighbor who needs our service; God in heaven needs it not.”

-Martin Luther

Step

Serve With Us

At Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, we believe in actively serving our community. There are two wonderful opportunities to get involved:

  • Baby Pantry: Join us in supporting families in need by volunteering at our Baby Pantry. Help organize donations, assemble care packages, and make a difference in the lives of parents and their little ones.
  • Community Meal: Every 4th Tuesday of the month, we come together to prepare and serve a warm, nourishing meal for our community. Join us in spreading kindness and providing a comforting meal to those in need.

If you’re looking for meaningful ways to give back and make a positive impact, we invite you to explore these serving opportunities.

Step

Connect With a Group

We believe that faith is not meant to be lived out in isolation, but in community. Joining a small group or Bible study provides a space for exploring and living out our faith together. In these groups, we find support, accountability, and encouragement as we navigate life’s challenges and joys. It is an opportunity to grow deeper in our understanding of God’s word and to build meaningful relationships with others. We invite you to explore the various groups and find one that fits your schedule and interests. Together, let’s journey in faith, supporting and learning from one another along the way.

“The more genuine and the deeper our community becomes, the more will everything else between us recede, and the more clearly and purely will Jesus Christ and his work become the one and only thing that is vital between us.”

-Dietrich Bonhoeffer

“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith.”

-Colossians 2:6–7a

These are just a couple of ways that you could think about getting involved in our missions ministries:

  • Support the work of We Care Community Resource Center by donating money or volunteer time as they seek to help those in need.
  • Help us support our missionaries Stephen and Marta Deal who are missionaries in Central America.
  • Support our seminarians who are preparing for service as pastors or other lay leaders in the church.
